Anything interesting show up in the event logs at the time of the scheduled scan? Look for the entry Enable_Scan_Option and set the value to 0 5.

I've never seen WFBS or Office Scan do that outside of the parameters that caused hot fix B1469 to be issued (the SSAPI would freeze and cause the scheduled scan to run indefinitely) Hi - sorry for the late reply. If I cancel the sheduled scan and run a manual scan, the manual scan works fine. If I could see what it was getting stuck on, I could try excluding it - odd though that the manual scan never gets stuck.
